WHAT WE DO
In Education...
Recognizing the core of future progress is an educated population, the Ungana Foundation is focusing on primary aged youth and their teachers. Subjects will include technology using child-oriented laptops from One Laptop per Child, English language instruction, money management for financial responsibility, and various courses in social sciences and the Arts.
Recognizing Enterprise...
Job creation in the developing world is attained mainly through expansion of the economic base. Ungana’s entrepreneurial incubation program targets individuals dedicated to empowering themselves through creative ventures. It will provide enterprise management training and financial assistance through matched-savings; eliminating debt and promoting an independent future.
With Natural Resources...
The Ungana Foundation is nursing the introduction of a new agricultural resource called ‘banana fiber’. These fibers are derived from abundant agro-waste found on banana farms. Introduction of this new industry could revitalize the largest base of workers in Rwanda: Rural farmers.
And Health...
Development is only possible when the population is healthy enough to survive. Ungana will be addressing this need with basic clinics on sanitization, nutrition and reproduction. In addition, local and international medical students will have the opportunity to teach in the clinics and train in rural hospitals.
